1912 – 2010 - business as usual
2010 - The Renaissance arrives
How can the Renaissance be achieved?
- By smashing the stranglehold of partisanship and replacing it with true independence that will unify the best of all circles.
- By fair but strong leadership that will end the bickering and positioning.
- Focusing on the cutting edge future that is outside the box of today’s Arizona thinking.
- By equally involving citizens in all corners of society from the largest city to the smallest rural village.
- By fostering accomplishment and excellence in lieu of political correctness and bureaucracy.
- By creating an environment of responsibility, pride, idealism and performance that will propel each citizen and entrepreneur to the limit of his/her greatness.
- By leading as a political centrist with true conservative values.
- By respecting the foundation of this country and the ideals that made it great.
- By actively going and getting business opportunities instead of waiting for them to be delivered by a job fairy.
- By introducing the offensive mindset of private-sector demand for efficiency and performance to replace bureaucracy and defensive complacency.
Are you ready to bury the past? Join in for the ride to future prosperity and quality living.
My term as Governor will be heavily focused on two overwhelming priorities, both of them being highly interconnected;
- The Arizona Economy (jobs)
- Education
The future that Arizonans want and need is crystal clear. Numerous civic groups and prominent individuals have stepped forward with simple yet brilliant analyses and plans for a fantastic Arizona sunrise. And there are lots more to come. Folks, it isn’t a mystery. Yet, our reality is that we presently look at a dismal sunset. Why? The complacency and partisanship of our State political system is in paralysis and is completely incapable of delivering a future to us. Face it, it has failed and despite a little bit of hollow rhetoric, it offers no hope for the future. It is time to break the mold and make this state what we want it to be.
The world economy is a brutal take-no-prisoners environment and we are miserably loosing the battle. The response of the State government could make a skeptic wonder if they want us to fail. In an effort to catch up with the rest of the world, many states have responded brilliantly with competitive models for the future that they are executing today. There isn’t a lot to figure out here as others have created the map to competitiveness and all we have to do is get onboard. We don’t need to reinvent the wheel. When other states are landing diverse high-paying industries-of-the-future, it isn’t by accident. They have mobilized their best and brightest with economic-development plans and have gone after these opportunities with full force. They are getting results for their citizens. North Carolina has mobilized their forces and they mean it for real. Their Department of Commerce has 24-times the funding of ours. Meanwhile, the government affairs manager of Intel tells us that “Arizona’s economic strategy is non-existent”. People, we better start listening to industrialists like this as they control the destiny of our jobs. But we haven’t. That is why our State is #1 in the nation for job exodus having lost 305,000 jobs in this recession, 9.9 % of our workforce. Those aren’t just numbers on a spreadsheet as each represents the heartbreak and desperation of a family with no income.
Why hasn’t an agency such as the Department of Commerce risen to the occasion in the past? For one, it is politicized into dysfunction having had 7 different directors in the last ten years. The neglect at the hands of our political system has relegated the department to menial tasks such as data collection. They should be partnering up with the private sector and taking the world by storm. It’s not that we haven’t had plans in the past, we have had plenty of them. But, what we have never had is the leadership, unity or initiative to get off our butts and make it happen! That is about to change and you will find specifics of my plans for change in other pages here. Quoting the Arizona Republic, “Arizona has a long history of reaction to economic downturns with energetic determination. The state has compiled a thick stack of economic-development plans, most of which have done nothing but gather dust. … What would be “new” would be a commitment to making these things happen.” We will after November!
The Governor recently announced the creation of an economic study group that will report it’s recommendations at the end of March. Well excuse me, but isn’t it a little late for a leader to start thinking about this? Where were you and your predecessors long, long ago? And is it just a coincidence that this epiphany of job creation happened at the beginning of an election cycle? If the current Governor and other political powers had any intention of doing more than the same old lip service, they would have been engaged with full force a long time ago. Enough is enough, its time to step aside and pass the torch to an achiever.
With no attachment or obligation to any political power base or special interest, this candidate will achieve the Arizona Renaissance by transcending the crippling partisan situation of today which has proven terminally incapable of performance. My administration will be characterized by;
- Being a unifier of political parties from a non-partisan position. Everyone involved in governance will have to understand compromise and statesmanship.
- Bring a fresh intensity and determination to break the mold and engage the future with new and effective leadership at all levels.
- Utilize the best and brightest that are currently on the sidelines waiting for someone in leadership to turn on the light switch.
- Provide creative solutions to the complex problems that our professional politicians have proven unable to solve.
